What's New for the 2019 Honda Fit?

With the Honda Fit, a sporty subcompact 5-door hatchback, getting a facelift midway through its third generation of production, the 2019 model year understandably receives no major changes. The trims are still the LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L, with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine as their workhorse. This engine supplies 130 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque if hitched to a 6-speed manual transmission or 128 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque if joined to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Although the CVT provides less output for acceleration, it enables the Fit to peak at 33 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway. Only the top-level EX-L trim has the CVT as standard; on the other three trims, you can choose it instead of the standard 6-speed manual.

The 2019 Honda Fit is a two-row vehicle, with enough space to seat up to five people. However, you'll get more passenger volume on the LX and Sport, which offer 93.8 cubic feet; passenger space is 93.8 cubic feet on the EX and EX-L. Standard cargo volume is 16.6 cubic feet on the Fit, with the option of expanding it into the cabin for a maximum volume of 52.7 cubic feet when you fold down the rear seats. For leather seat trim and heated front seats, go with the EX-L. Standard comfort and convenience features on the Honda Fit include cruise control, Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, a four-speaker 160-watt audio system, a USB port for connecting mobile devices, and a 5-inch color LCD screen. At the Sports trim level, the Fit gets a six-speaker 180-watt audio system (instead of the four speakers), another USB data port, hands-free text messaging ability, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ for smartphone integration, HondaLink® for remote connectivity, and a 7-inch high-resolution touchscreen. At the EX and EX-L trim levels, the Fit is upgraded with push-button engine start and a trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio.

For restraint and cushioning in the event of a crash, the 2019 Honda Fit has dual front impact airbags, a pair front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and two roof-mounted side curtain airbags that line both rows of seats. Other standard safety features on the subcompact hatchback include hill start assist, vehicle stability assist with traction control, an anti-lock braking system, a multi-angle rearview camera, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, and daytime running lights. Auto high-beam headlight technology, Honda LaneWatch™ (a camera system that supplements the side mirrors), and the Honda Sensing® suite of driver-assistance technologies (which comprise forward collision warning, lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control) are added on the EX and EX-L.
