What's New for the 2018 Honda Civic?

Stylish, tech-savvy, and sporty are fitting ways to describe the 2018 Honda Civic. After giving the Civic a significant redesign in 2017, Honda held off on making changes to the 2018 Civic. Along with interior and exterior design changes, a notable difference in 2017 is that the hatchback version of the Civic made a triumphant return. Now, the Civic is available in three body styles, which are the sedan, coupe, and hatchback. Along with an eye-catching exterior redesign, which added bold angles and curves to give the Civic a more dynamic appearance, a six-speed manual transmission was added as well. Another notable change is that satellite radio is now a standard amenity. Now standard on most trims is Honda's comprehensive and forward-thinking Honda Sensing package, which is available on all models that have an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Honda Sensing system includes numerous driver assistance and accident avoidance features like forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. Like many of its contemporary peers, the Civic has an infotainment system that offers app connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an audio system. Other standard features include automatic climate control and a backup camera. Heated front seats, a remote engine start, a moonroof, and leather-accented interior are some notable available features for the 2018 Honda Civic.

While the Civic shines from the outside, its features beneath the hood are equally impressive. All three versions of the Civic are available with a powerful turbocharged engine, which gives them more power and a sportier driving feel than in years past. The base models of the coupe, sedan, and hatchback have a 1.5L, four-cylinder engine. This engine produces a maximum of 205 HP at 5,700 RPM and 174 HP at 6,000 RPM in the manual and automatic transmissions, respectively. The higher trim models get a 2.0L, four-cylinder engine that produces 158 HP at 6,500 RPM. This engine is available in vehicles with both the automatic and manual transmissions. All trims of the sedan and coupe can be ordered with either the 2.0L engine or the 1.5L engine. The hatchback, however, is available just with the 1.5L engine. The CVT transmission is standard on all trims except for the LX, Sport, and EX-T versions, which have a standard six-speed manual transmission and an optional automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on all trims of the 2018 Civic.
