2020 Honda Accord vs 2020 Honda Civic

Serving Nashville, TN

There are sedans, and then there are the 2020 Honda Civic and Accord. They both have comfortable cabins and separate baggage areas. They also have incredible reputations for reliability and safety. Where they differ is in size, but this short examination shows it can still take a bit of thought to determine which might be the better choice.

Performance

The top 2020 Accord block is a 2-liter turbo-4 unleashing 252 horsepower and teamed with a 10-speed automatic transmission. For a more economical experience, the Accord enlists a 1.5-liter turbo-4 with a CVT to achieve 192 horsepower. Dealing with a lighter load, the 1.5-liter turbo-4 in the 2020 Civic is set at 174 horsepower. The Civic also provides a 2-liter standard block with 158 horsepower. In the Civic Sport, this engine comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. All automatic Civic models utilize a CVT transmission.

Appearance

The 2020 Civic and Accord share common ground. Both display a sleek, aerodynamic profile with sharp, flowing creases in just the right spots. Inside, both sedans are nearly the same upfront in dimensions with Accord headroom only 0.2 inches higher than the 39.3 inches in the Civic. The legroom is identical at 42.3 inches. In the back, once again, an extra 0.2 inches is all that separates the Accord from the 37.1 inches of headroom in the Civic. The Accord does put its more significant size to work, though, in adding an extra 3 inches for 40.4 inches of rear legroom.

Features

While the 2020 Accord alone has a hybrid version, both have an LX edition that includes 160-watt sound through 4 speakers and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Accord, though, comes with a 7-inch touchscreen instead of the Civic's 5-inch display. It also splits climate control into two zones instead of the Civic's single zone. The Accord Sport moves up to an 8-inch touchscreen while the Civic heads to 7-inches. Both sedans supply 180-watt audio and eight speakers. The Accord and Civic EX editions place a moonroof above front heated seats, and the Civic EX brings in twin climate zones. Leather upholstery premiers in the Civic and Accord EX-L models, but the Accord version includes ten speakers and 450 watts of sound. Finally, heat is added to back seats in the Civic and Accord Touring model. The Civic Touring edition gets 450 watts through 10 speakers while the Accord adds wireless charging.

With so much in common between the 2020 Civic and Accord, coming to a final decision can be tough. The Accord might add a few inches of space and a few frills, but the Civic adds a few miles per gallon. Test driving both at our dealership today is the only real tiebreaker.
