As China produces 90% of rare-earth metals and their demand is expected to go up 14% every year, Honda knew they needed to break their reliance on the materials.

This morning, Honda issued a press release announcing that the 2016 Civic Coupe can now lay claim to a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety when equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance and safety technologies¹²³⁴⁵⁶. This morning, Honda announced the exciting news that every model in its light-truck lineup has earned recognition on U.S. News & World Report's "2016 Best Cars for Families" list. Editors compared models based on a combination of professional automotive reviews, safety and reliability ratings, seating and cargo volume and the availability of family-friendly features. The following vehicles were included on the finalized list.

• HR-V named Best Subcompact SUV.
• Pilot named Best 3-Row SUV.
