Safety technology in vehicles is always advancing and our favorite Japanese automaker is helping it make leaps and bounds. They've filed for two patents on safety technology that's sure to keep you and everyone around you safer by utilizing augmented reality heads-up displays also known as HUDs. Let's take a look at what they entail.

The first of the two pertains to pedestrian safety. Allowing you to see more than just what's outside your windows, the HUD would show you pedestrians further out and in your blind spots so you would be prepared to stop for one before you vehicle would need to intervene. The second patent is for vehicle-to-vehicle communication, essentially allowing you to see through vehicles to see the ones beyond. This would let you monitor the speed of over vehicles around you to prepare you for changes in speed, like sudden stops, with more warning.

These are still very much in an experimental stage so it will probably be quite some time before they arrive in new Honda models. Of course, we'll keep our ears to the ground and let you know when more details arise.
